I started writing the song before i had the knowledge or language to put the feeling I had into words -- I knew what I was experiencing on my label, and at my job fucking sucked. But I didn’t know what to do with that!
In my last few years of organizing, something’s slowly been clicking for me. Finally, it was a speech by fellow organizer Clara Takarabe an organizing artists teach-in that helped me arrive to what I wanted to say in the song. - the key to finally making it happen - Solidarity! A way to imagine and build towards a real future, with friends, family, co workers, everyone across this dumb world."
lyrics
Verse I
too late for ‘em
another day
the broken infrastructure waits
education plagued by spite
again again
And they know that
sat's
Are never what they seem to be
a gap so big i fell in too!
Pre
9-9 nother word we’re drowning
They could have stopped but on bullshit-it was founded
And it goes till I'm gone
Always a pawn
Chorus
Cause they dont care
Any more
And I’m wasting all this effort
They dont care
They’ll ignore
And I wanted to be prepared
I dont care
Not before
We tear it back
Cause its all a trap
And you know
We’ll stop, restore eachother
Build a it on a dream
They never cared before
Verse II
Out in new jersey
I’ve been feeling alone
So selfish, everybody knows
No retort
to the thousand things
You're told you dont know
So they doubt me
A shitty love
Forget and you’ll become a dove
we’re the dark
and nothing else
from on down above
Pre
9-9 nother word we’re drowning
They could have stopped but on bullshit-it was founded
And it goes till’ im gone
Always a pawn
Chorus
They dont care
Any more
And I’m wasting all this effort
They dont care
They’ll ignore
And I wanted to be prepared
I dont care
Not before
We tear it back
Cause its all a trap
And you know
We’ll stop, restore eachother
Build a it on a dream
They never cared before
END
Tear it down
Will you please
Come with me
tip the shear the force of all the peoples rights
If we fight
Then we might
Then we might
---
No more borders
No more fear
burn the bootstraps
And all their smears
Unionize your fucking workplace
Gimme a light to get out of this dark place
